Studied music at Berklee College of Music, Boston 
Lived in Cologne, Germany 
Charlie Mariano was one of the last living musicians from the bebop era. He started performing professionally in 1941 with a showband in the Boston area. From this time he constantly worked until today. 


1953 - 1955 Stan Kenton, Dizzy Gillespie, Erroll Garner 
Late 1950s Toshiko Akiyoshi, Shelly Manne 
Early 1960s Charles Mingus Band, McCoy Tiner 
During the late 60s he lived in Asia and Europe 
Early 70s he worked with groups like "Embryo", "Ambush" 
Late 70s: Eberhard Weber's "Colours" and "United Jazz&Rock Ens." 
and guest on albums by "Steely Dan" and others 
Early 80s he worked with "Stone Alliance", Stu Goldberg, Toto Blanke 
Since then he has recorded with german popstar "Nena", Jasper Van't Hof and many others He still tours regularly under his own name and for others. He is legendary with critics worldwide for his instantly recognisable sound and strong melodic sense. Because he usually appears live only in Europe or Asia, Charlie has almost been forgotten in the USA.
